Introducing Project Portofira —

This project started as “do we move or refurnish the home?” And that quickly changed to a full remodel as I got to know this family and what this house means to them 🥺

Designed with intention, curated for a family that has lived here for 25+ years, raising their boys and now building memories for their next generation. This project embodies refined elegance, timeless character, which begins at their entry and formal living room— bringing in a quiet sophistication that welcomes anyone that walks through the door (and because my clients are the most loving people in the world and would design 20 more homes for them) 🫶🏼 stay tuned for more!

But honestly the biggest treat is for designers getting to dream up these spaces and having clients trust them through and through and end up looking like this!

Some people get surprised when I tell them how much designers spend on professional photography. I can go on and on about why you should invest in it but honestly you spend so many hours of conceptualizing, planning, executing, etc etc, why wouldn’t you want to show it off the best way possible? Which leads me to my next question: any OC friends that offers half day shoots— DM me!! This kitchen deserves the love!!

This powder bath deserves a solo post because she went from sophisticated traditional to the chicest lady on the block— looking back from the sourcing/texts when designing this bathroom (and trust from our clients) which then became one of those “wow this looks better than I thought it would look” moments and that’s when we can give ourselves a pat on the back ☺️

Office spaces tend to be on the “would be nice” list, but for this husband and wife entrepreneur duo, it was on the “would be REALLY nice” list annnnd that was all we needed to hear. Our realtor friends probably don’t think it’s the best move to convert the formal dining and formal living room to a private his/her office but anyone who 1. works and 2. has kids, knows this would be REALLY nice to have 🤣 mooore reasons why I want to own this house coming soon….to be continued!

Last week I was asked what our favorite project we designed for was…and I still can’t say. I had to resurface this picture perfect guest bedroom we designed for @ashleynicokelly as it was the cover photo for an article on @forbes @houzz and @builddesmoines talking about how remodeling can hurt your relationship// as we know going through this journey with many couples, it’s difficult to navigate through the beastly process of it being a WHOLE different world to many which is why we try to make it as seamless and transparent as possible to cater all different needs and personalities — construction isn’t for everyone, but I always say, if you have the means to do it and the right team in place, it’s truly magical when it all transforms 🫶🏼

When there’s a realistic budget allocated to furnishings and is considered off limits on the construction side, it’s music to my ears 🎶 — doesn’t always happens this way obviously but with proper planning, it CAN happen (and should) and your dining nook can look thhhhis beautiful 🤩

Laundry rooms are one of my new found loves because I feel like back then all it was was just a chunky washer and dryer with (maybe) a sink and a small counter space to do your 5 loads. I’m finding myself always wanting to learn more about the most quietest of the quietest washing machines or the most compact unit that don’t sit 10” away from your wall— andddd I just found out there’s a washer and dryer combo that actually dries fully. So, we’re making progress!! Moral of the story is… let’s design more beautiful and functional laundry rooms!

Last week, we revealed another house to a couple that have been so trusting since the very beginning. When we met last year, we talked about whether they should sell or remodel — and ultimately decided to stay because of the memories that were created here after raising their kids and now grandkids. Our goal was to make them feel like they are living in a resort, and this entryway is one resort I wouldn’t mind staying at! I’m so proud of my team for making this happen and for our clients that have been the best “yes” team for all of our design ideas🥺. Photoshoot won’t happen until the fall, so we’ll indulge in some before and after until then! Last pic shows a v happy designer that couldn’t believe we actually finished in time 😂

Elias Jacob, our hearts are so full for you! So now the mentality has changed from nesting → officially being a mom 🫶🏼
